What Is Tinder Passport (And Does This Feature Actually Suck?)

What Is Tinder Passport?

Tinder Passport is the “change your location” feature that comes bundled in Tinder Plus, Tinder Gold, and Tinder Platinum. With Tinder Passport, you can pretend to be anywhere you like. You can swipe and match with people in any location.

How Does Tinder Passport Work?

Tinder Passport

When you’re using Tinder Passport, you’re only visible to people in the new location you’ve chosen. No one “back home” will still be swiping on you.

At first, there may still be a few people in your photo deck from your previous location. In a few more swipes, though, you’ll start seeing people in your new location.

Tinder Passport saves your settings, so even if you sign out of the app, you will still be set to the location of your choice when you come back.

What Does Tinder Passport Look Like to Potential Matches?

It USED to be — when Tinder Passport first launched — that there was blue text which said “Swiping in ____.”

After scrapping that bad idea, Tinder made it so it showed the distance, even though it was really far away from the person’s swiping range (e.g. 500 miles away).

Luckily, Tinder scrapped that too. Now they just delete this line on profiles using Tinder Passport.

Granted, it’s still possible to figure out that someone is using Tinder Passport because there is no distance on their profile. But this isn’t as obnoxious and noticeable as in previous versions of Tinder Passport.

Tinder Passport Pros and Cons

Pros

• Using Tinder Passport is 1000x easier than attempting to spoof your location with another app. The latest versions of Tinder make the old way of location spoofing impossible, so you have to download an old version of Tinder. Even then, you’re going to spend hours on Google and discussion forums trying to figure out why your solution doesn’t work. Spending a few bucks on Tinder Plus is a small price to pay to avoid all that!

• When you choose a new location with Tinder Passport, your profile gets the “new user” boost in views!

Cons

• Your potential matches can tell that you’re using Tinder Passport if they look closely enough at your profile.

• You’re setting yourself up for a long-distance fling if you have no plans of visiting this far off land.

How to Make the MOST of Tinder Passport

Don’t spend money on features like Tinder Passport and then have a crappy profile. You’re just going to end up with 0 matches.
