Bumble Boost: Worth the Money? Pros and Cons of Upgrading

Last updated
Bumble Boost

Do you have to pay for the Bumble app to get something out of it? Is upgrading to a paid Bumble Boost subscription worth your money, or is the free version good enough as-is?

We’ll be discussing what you get with Bumble Boost, what it costs, and the pros and cons of upgrading to Bumble Boost.

Bumble Boost Price

Bumble Boost first launched at a price point of $9.99/month.

Since then, Bumble Boost subscriptions have gotten pricer. The prices seem to change dynamically, however, so not everyone sees the exact same numbers. (We assume this depends on factors like location, age, gender, and use of the app.)

At the moment, we’re seeing a price of $8.99/week, or $16.99/month. There’s also the option to buy 3 months for $33.99 or 6 months for $54.99 (paid upfront).

Features You Get With Bumble Boost

The unlimited likes are just the beginning…

1. 5 SuperSwipes + 1 Spotlight

Tell your match you’re interested before they swipe on you with 5 free SuperSwipes per week.

Plus, you get one free Spotlight a week- similar to Tinder’s boost feature where you’ll be presented at the front of the queue and shown to more matches!

2. Rematch

If you have an exceptionally busy day, you’re liable to let a great match or two expire without realizing it.

With Rematch, you can reopen communication with an expired match via the tap of a button.

3. Extends

The free version of Bumble gives you 24 hours to contact a new match. With BusyBee, you can take as long as you like.

Bumble Boost Pros and Cons

Pros

• The biggest pro for busy bees are Rematch and Extends features that could save you from missing out on great prospects. For those users who don’t check the app daily, this is a valuable asset.

Cons

• If you check Bumble at least once a day, the Rematch and Extends features will be wasted on you.

• Nothing about the Bumble Boost upgrade helps you get more or better matches (most users’ #1 issue). If your profile is bad, you’ll get 0 matches even if you pay for Bumble Boost.

Is Bumble Boost Worth It?

Here’s what it comes down to.

Bumble Boost is worth it if: you know what features you’re getting and plan to put them to good use.

Bumble Boost is not worth it if: you assume it will help you get more matches, messages, or dates.

You don’t need Bumble Boost to get matches, nor are you guaranteed more matches if you pay.

On the flip side, it’s possible to get tons of matches with just the free version of Bumble if you have an optimized profile.

If you’re not getting the matches you want, consider testing your profile pics on Photofeeler to see how they’re coming across to women (or men). It’s been shown to increase match rates and match quality a ton.
